Statewide Social Services Organization Uses Business Intelligence to Support the Community

United Way of Connecticut needed a way to maintain and organize its comprehensive database, focusing on making their 2-1-1 system and child care initiatives more accessible. The mission of the nonprofit organization is to connect state residents to information, education and services that meet their needs. It was imperative that their database could provide the information individuals needed easily.

In order to be able to gauge the success of their programs and initiatives, United Way of Connecticut needed a way to track and organize relevant statistics and analyze those results to determine how programs were adding the most value to the community. ADNET was engaged to find a solution that would allow for precise methods of data tracking and analysis to meet the organization’s needs.

The goal was to make the information already within United Way of Connecticut’s database available to those in need of it, as well as having the ability to analyze and compare the data to pinpoint trends and generate necessary reports. The organization needed a tool or process in place that would allow users to extract data, separate dates and information and compare their findings.

ADNET met with the client to gather their requirements and ADNET’s Application Services team began developing a custom Business Intelligence solution. By leveraging tools like SharePoint and SQL, which already existed within their environment, ADNET was able to help reduce the overall cost and significantly shorten the development timeframe. The solution allowed United Way to organize and compare their existing data as well as identify hidden needs and trends.

United Way of Connecticut is now able to accurately measure their results and determine the best way to support those programs. They are also able to easily connect people to services they need by providing individuals within the community with the tools to answer business questions related to the programs they support.

With the success of this Business Intelligence project, United Way has engaged ADNET to continue their partnership as the organization’s trusted IT advisor.
